Hospitality Hall of Honor | |||
Inductees | |||
| Giants of our industry. The seeds for the Hospitality Industry Hall of Honor were planted in the fall of 1995 by Dr. Ronald A. Nykiel, who held the Hilton College's Conrad N. Hilton Distinguished Chair. On September 25, 1996, Conrad N. Hilton, J. Willard Marriott, Vernon Stouffer and Kemmons Wilson became the first honorees inducted into the newly established Hall of Honor at a gala ceremony attended by more than 350 people in the Conrad N. Hilton Ballroom of the Hilton University of Houston. Wilson, then 73, attended the induction ceremony, while Hilton, Marriott and Stouffer were honored posthumously. Since 1996, nearly 60 hospitality icons have joined this inaugural group. These inductees have left indelible marks on business and in the world, and all are stellar role models for Hilton College students and everyone working in the hospitality industry today. Hall of Honor Gallery
The Hall of Honor Gallery, located off the main lobby of the Hilton University of Houston, features specially commissioned portraits of each inductee by artist Robert Lapsley. New members are presented a copy of their portraits at the induction ceremony, but the original portraits are rotated regularly and hung in this gallery as a tribute to the achievements of each inductee. Those honored in the gallery represent the world's most successful hospitality companies and most recognizable brands. The Hospitality Hall of Honor motto—Education through Leadership—is alive and well through the examples showcased here. |
