ESTHUA University of Angers
Spend a semester in the scenic Loire Valley as a student at The University of Angers School of Hotel and Tourism (ESTHUA = Etudes Supérieures de Tourisme et Hôtellerie d'Angers).
This specialized program is designed specifically for international students and classes are delivered in English. Classes include introductory French, international marketing and a specialized hospitality and tourism curriculum including site inspections of chateaus, wineries and castles.
Two students per spring semester will be selected. Students will earn 15 hours of elective credit.
Application Requirements:
*Must be a declared HRM major and at least sophomore status
*Minimum cumulative GPA requirement of 2.75
*Must have at least one semester remaining at UH upon return from abroad
Application Procedures:
Selected applicants agree to:
*Submit a $100 non-refundable fee that applies to the spring 2010 fee bill
*Apply for an
International Educational Fee Scholarship (IEFS) (deadline October 1st)
*Comply with all requirements, deadlines, and procedures of the
UH Office of International Studies & Programs (OISP). Please note that
OISP requires an additional application form and a number of documents for
outgoing exchange students.
*Spend up to 4 hours assisting the Hilton College with study abroad exchange
activities (i.e. promote at organization fair, short presentations to students
about the experience, greet/assist incoming exchange students, advise outgoing
exchange students etc.) during the semester after returning.

Housing - including a housing deposit, paid directly to University of Angers
upon arrival
Passport - if you do not hold a valid passport, please apply for one at this
time
Visa fees - paid through
Campus France (approx $60) and the French Consulate in Houston (approx $68)
Medical Study Abroad Insurance – including the French national health
insurance service
Local transportation costs - varies depending on how much you travel
Academic materials/textbooks, as required by your syllabus in France
Meals - subsidized university meal coupons can be purchased at University of
Angers
Personal expenses and incidentals
Personal preferences affect the total cost of your program.
Participants should plan for the trip and budget appropriately.

About the city of Angers, France: Located in the Loire Valley, about 200 miles southwest from Paris (approximately 2 hours by train), Angers is a charming city of over 280,000 residents. The 13th century Chateau d’Angers holds the oldest and largest collection of medieval tapestries in the world. The famous orange liqueur, Cointreau, has been manufactured in Angers since 1849 and is immortalized in the Cointreau Museum.
