Like the hospitality industry, the Academic Services department is customer service focused. And here at the Hilton College, you’re the customer.
Offering convenient hours, an informed staff and a willingness to do whatever it takes to help you earn your degree in the most productive and efficient manner possible, Academic Services is an invaluable educational advocate—your source of information from orientation to graduation. Count on us for the following services:
Academic Advising
What courses should I take? Will my credits transfer? How do I sign up for independent study? The Academic Services staff will analyze any previous educational credits to help set you on a logical path to graduation. Any questions related to earning your degree—whether you are a first-year student, transfer student or upperclassman—can be answered or addressed by our office.
Academic Relationships
Academic Services maintains relationships with a variety of community colleges and two-year hospitality programs, accepting predetermined courses for credit to ease the way for transfer students.
Petitions
Anytime a petition is required, Academic Services will coordinate the process, helping you complete the paperwork and submit it to the appropriate department. For example, a change of major, transfer course equivalency and special problems (independent study) require petitions. Visit Academic Services for assistance.
Scholarships
Academic Services helps administer all Hilton College-related scholarships. Through our office, nearly $300,000 in scholarships were awarded last year alone. Contact Jeremy Dafoe, the Hilton College scholarship coordinator, for more information, and be sure to visit Scholarships and Financial Aid to learn about any scholarships awarded outside the scope of our office.
Study Abroad Programs
You choose the location—we will help with the logistics. Academic Services will provide guidance and referrals for the University of Houston study abroad process.
