Exploring Internships

Do you want to apply classroom learning to real world challenges? Discover the career path that’s perfect for you? Develop a competitive advantage? An internship is the answer, and here are two big reasons why.

  1. Exploration
An internship helps you ‘try out’ an area of hospitality, either reinforcing your initial instinct or introducing a hospitality sector that may suit you even better. It’s easiest to make this discovery prior to graduation rather than after you are firmly set on a career path.

  2. Competitive Advantage
It’s simple. An internship impresses future employers. By listing work experience on your resume, you will have a distinct advantage over those who offer only classroom learning. You’ll understand the basics of the job before you come onboard, and employers will appreciate your working knowledge.

Finding a Career that Works For You

At the Hilton College, we want each of our students to pursue a career that’s both personally and professionally rewarding. Internships are one way we help students gather the knowledge and experience to find and earn that perfect job. With the city of Houston as our partner, every facet of the industry is open to a Hilton College student. From hotel operations and finance to restaurant and club management, we will help find a spot for you.

Take a minute to review our frequently asked questions or explore how you can earn course credit through your internship. And please contact Stephanie Witowski, our internship coordinator, with any additional questions.

We also invite you to subscribe to the Internship Listserv to receive announcements delivered right to your e-mail.
